WAVENY HOUSE

The Town of New Canaan operates Waveny House located in Waveny Park. The House is open to the public and may be rented for a variety of functions through the New Canaan Recreation Department which is located on the second floor. Waveny House, a large Tudor mansion, was constructed in 1912 for the Lewis Lapham family, and was purchased by the Town of New Canaan in 1967. The first floor of Waveny House consists of the grand hall, library, sitting room, dining room, breakfast room, billiard room, a patio overlooking the beautiful grounds, and a complete commercial kitchen. On the second floor are four gracious rooms used for conferences and meetings. Waveny House (capacity 160) may be rented for meetings, social events, and cultural activities. Commercial use is not permitted. Benefits for non-profit organizations at which items would be sold must have permission from the Park and Recreation Commission and a permit from the Planning and Zoning Commission. Information and application for use of Waveny House are available at the New Canaan Recreation Department Office.
