Lapham Community Center, located in Waveny Park, offers a wide variety of classes and activities for all adult New Canaan residents. There are no membership fees or requirements beyond town residency. The telephone number is 203-594-3620.
Adult education classes include exercise, computer, art, languages, bridge, yoga, music, t'ai chi, writing and history as well as joint courses with AARP and Lifetime Learners at NCC. In addition, LCC's spacious living room and terrace with views of the Park provide an attractive place to read or relax.
LCC also serves as the home for the Senior Center with special programs and lunch on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Seniors can participate in crafts or discussion group on Wednesday mornings and then attend the 1 p.m. program which is generally a lecture, concert, party, movie or game. Transportation to the Center is available on the Getabout Van 203-972-7433 with reservations necessary a day in advance.
Services such as insurance counseling, blood pressure clinics, flu and pneumonia shots, health testing, and tax assistance are also available.
