Enjoy the summer attending a day camp on the beautiful grounds of Waveny House. Daily activities at the camp will include: arts & crafts, nature, music & drama, and athletics. An hour of swimming at Kiwanis Park will also be a daily part of the program. Children will arrive at Waveny House at 9:00 a.m. and must be picked up at Kiwanis Park at 3:00 p.m. Each two-week session of camp will feature the special events of a costume day, cookout and field day. Information for parents familiar with the program, the traditional overnight sleepover for the campers will no longer be held.  The camp has a staff to camper ratio of 1/6 and is limited to a maximum of 90 campers in each session.

LOTTERY REGISTRATION, LOTTERY DROP OFF or MAIL IN:

March 2-March 11, 2009 at the Recreation Department Office in Waveny House. Office Hours are Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The mailing address is: New Canaan Recreation Department, Post Office Box 852, New Canaan, CT 06840.

Registration for all three camps will be conducted by a lottery. Lottery registration requires a completed hand signed camp registration form for each camper with full payment by check only, a separate check is required for each session for each child. Make checks payable to : "Town of New Canaan." No mailed forms will be accepted postmarked prior to Friday, February 27th. All forms must be received by 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 to be eligible for the lottery. Any forms received after March 11 will be put in the order they are received and processed after the lottery is completed. When a session becomes full, you will be placed on a waiting list by order of your selection. If a child does not get into a session, your check will be returned once the programs begins. Camp lists will be posted at the Recreation Office on Thursday, March 19, and parents may call after 8:30 a.m. for confirmation. You may register for a maximum of two sessions of camp per child. You may register the children from your family only. Parents may register for an additional third session of camp beginning on Tuesday, April 14 provided openings exist. All registration forms must include a copy of the child's original birth certificate if not already on file at the Recreation Office. No child will be registered without a birth certificate.
