New Canaan now offers a 1.5 acre off-leash area for dogs to run and play with other canine friends.  It is located by the Lapham Road entrance to Waveny Park.  All dogs must be wearing a current valid dog license and a current valid rabies tag.  The park is monitored by the Animal Control Officer/Park Ranger.  Additional rules are posted at the entrance to the run.

Rules and Regulations

• For everyone’s safety, Spencer’s Run closes at dusk
• Leash your dog while entering and exiting the area
• You may unleash your dog when securely within the area; you must maintain voice control of your dog at all times.
• Have a leash in hand at all times. Stay within view of your dog and supervise your dog’s activity.
• Please respect the rights of other visitors. You are personally responsible for damage caused by your dog.
• Dogs must be removed from the area at the first sign of aggression.
• Clean up your dog’s feces and dispose of it properly in the trash receptacle.
• Your dog must be properly vaccinated and wear a collar with current license and rabies tags.
• Female dogs in heat are not allowed.
• Children 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.
• A maximum of 3 dogs per handler are allowed in the area.
• Puppies younger than 4 months are prohibited (unless licensed and vaccinated).
• The use of the dog social area is at your own risk.
