NEW CANAAN PARKS

Enjoy our New Canaan Parks

A note from Animal Control: Please, all dogs must be leashed. A New Canaan Town ordinance requires dogs to be leashed in all Town parks. Please clean up after your dog.

WAVENY PARK

Waveny Park, with entrances at 677 South Avenue and off Lapham Road, has 250 acres of parkland including Waveny House in the center which houses the office of the New Canaan Recreation Department. Waveny Park contains approximately 3.5 miles of jogging/walking trails, soccer, baseball, and softball fields, picnic area, Platform Tennis Courts, Waveny Park Swimming Facility, artificial turf Water Tower Field and lots of open area. Waveny Park also contains the PowerHouse Performing Arts Center, The Carriage Barn, Spencer's Run, and Lapham Community Center.  The Waveny Lodge at the Platform Tennis Courts will open with new construction in the spring 2008.     

KIWANIS PARK

Kiwanis Park is the Town public swimming facility located off Old Norwalk Road. Kiwanis Park is open June through August and includes a playstructure, outdoor basketball court, snack bar, and a picnic area.

MEAD MEMORIAL PARK

Mead Memorial Park is located off Park Street with one-way traffic exiting on to Richmond Hill Road. Mead Park contains lighted and unlighted baseball fields and tennis courts, picnic areas, baseball batting cages, a large pond, playground area with playstructure, and lighted ice skating in the winter.  Newly opened, the Lodge at Mead Park offers an open air eating area, air conditioned bathrooms and a food service for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  A beautiful terrace overlooks the fields with tables to sit and eat the great food served at the snack bar.   

MILL POND PARK

Mill Pond Park is located off Millport Avenue and contains a large pond with walking trails.  Weather permitting, the pond is lighted for ice skating in the winter.

ED DIXON MEMORIAL PARK

The Ed Dixon Memorial Park is a small vest-pocket park located off Hoyt Street containing a small playground area with a playstructure.

BRISTOW BIRD SANCTUARY

The Bristow Bird Sanctuary is located off Old Stamford Road and contains a quiet secluded spot to walk on wooded trails and enjoy nature.

IRWIN PARK

New Canaan's newest park- Irwin Park will be opening in 2005. The 36 acre property is located at the intersection of Weed Street and Wahackme Road.
